Overview
Building on the basics, students work with sensors, motors, and more advanced programming to design robots that can react, respond, and solve increasingly complex challenges.
Each class is built around a real engineering application, helping students connect robotics and coding to how technology is actually used in the real world.
What to Expect
🤖 Build and program more advanced robots
📡 Work with sensors, motors, and responsive behaviours
💻 Develop more advanced programming skills step by step
🧩 Take on challenges inspired by real engineering, including autonomous vehicles, rescue robotics, space exploration, ocean research, automation, and more
🔧 Test, troubleshoot, and improve designs as challenges become more complex
👥 Small groups with a maximum of 10 students
👩🏫 Guidance from university engineering students and CEGEP STEM students, including students from McGill, Concordia, John Abbott, Brébeuf, and other leading schools
What They'll Learn
Students will learn how to:
Program robots to react to their environment using sensors
Combine motors, sensors, and logic into more advanced programs
Use conditions and decision-making in their code
Design solutions to more open-ended robotics challenges
Test, troubleshoot, and improve both their code and robot
Apply the engineering design process to real problems
Become more independent in building and programming
Each week introduces a new mission based on a real field of engineering, giving students the chance to apply their skills to practical challenges while developing stronger problem-solving and technical confidence.
Why Bright Labz?
Because real growth happens when the challenge gets a little harder.
Intermediate Robotics gives students more freedom to experiment, problem-solve, and improve their own solutions rather than simply following instructions. They leave each class with a more capable robot and a deeper understanding of how real engineering works.
